Kabal Peninsula

The Kabal peninsula, which is shaped like the fingers of a hand, is located on the northwest side of the old town bay. Cape Kabal – an eighty-meter high rock – is located at the very entrance to the bay, while Stari Grad, one of the safest natural harbors on the Adriatic, is located at the end of the bay. During crystal clear days, you will have the feeling that you are sailing into some kind of fjord. Behind you, you will leave high hills that plunge headlong into the sea in the southern part, while the city of Stari Grad, deeply cut in the bay, will show you.

Tourists who decide to head to the top of the island will be rewarded with an interesting man-made attraction – tunnels dug by order of Tito to defend the island from attack. They are located at the top of the old town canal and when the ferry approaches the port, they can be seen on the left. Besides being fun to explore, the sunsets from the tunnel opening are among the most beautiful on the island. To get to the tunnel, drive through Velika Rudina and continue for 12 km to the tip of the peninsula where you will see the word “Tunnel” written on the rock.
