The Stari Grad Brass Orchestra
The Stari Grad Brass Orchestra was founded way back in 1876, and can proudly say that it has been continuously active for 140 years.
The first musical society in Stari Grad was founded under the name Banda Cittadina (City Music) whose 1876 statute testifies to the first organised woodwind orchestra and the cultivation of the musical culture of Stari Grad. Its first chaplains were Czech – Sanitrak, Fronek, Svoboda, and Jelenek.
The Stari Grad Brass Orchestra takes part in all state, secular and religious holidays, and often performs outside Croatia were they regularly win the hearts of audiences as well as professional awards.
This musical society was a place where many generations of Stari Grad citizens expressed their love of music, and some of them even started their professional music careers in its ranks. Today’s chaplain Luki Gamulin also emerged from the ranks of the Stari Grad Brass Orchestra.
During your stay in Stari Grad, you will surely at least once have the opportunity to see and hear the musicians of Stari Grad entertaining their fellow citizens as well as numerous visitors with their beats.
